Biography
Dr. Oluwarotimi Williams Samuel, received his B.Sc. and M.Tech. Degrees in Computer Science from Kogi State University and the Federal University of Technology, Akure in 2009 and 2014, with First Class Honors and Distinction, respectively. He further obtained a Ph.D. degree in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing in January 2018 courtesy of CAS-TWAS President’s fellowship award. In recognition of his outstanding performances during the study, he did receive several prestigious honors and awards that include distinguished Ph.D. dissertation, best academic paper award, excellent foreign student as well as excellent international graduate awards, amongst others. Between 2010 and 2014, he worked as a senior software engineer and program analyst with High Technology Research and Development Group Limited and State Information Technology Agency, correspondingly. He worked as a Postdoctoral research fellow between January 2018 and January 2020, after which he was appointed as an Associate Professor with the Centre for Neural Engineering, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. His research interest includes applied machine intelligence, rehabilitation robotics, biomedical signal processing, clinical decision support systems, data mining and knowledge discovery. As principal investigator, he has received a number of research funding awards from both National (NSFC) and International Research Funding Organizations. He is also the co-principal investigator of a number ongoing international research collaborations and was recently honored with the 2019 IEEE outstanding young investigator research visit award to Sapienza University, Roma (Ranked No. 1 in Italy). He is the author/co-author of more than 90 articles, with over 960 citations (i10-index: 29; h-Index: 17) on Google Scholar. He is an editorial board member of the Frontiers in Neurorobotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Neuroscience Journals, and he is a reviewer for IEEE TNRST, IEEE Com. Mag., Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, and amongst other reputable international peer-review journals.
